Kenneth MacLennan, Coaching Partner
“I spent my earlier life in banking, management consulting and in executive search. I was Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Merchant Bank in Singapore and Group Head of Resourcing for Standard Chartered Bank in London. I was formerly a Partner of Spicer & Oppenheim Consulting and Managing Director of Korn/Ferry International in the UK.
I stopped being a headhunter to focus exclusively on executive coaching when I joined the Change Partnership (now Praesta) in 2002. I joined JCA in April 2006 as a senior executive coach to continue my very enjoyable working relationship with Peter Hogarth. I was particularly attracted by the high calibre team and their determination to deliver work of the highest quality to clients.
I believe Peter Hogarth, Alice Perkins and I complement each other well in our skills. My whole career has been an apprenticeship for this role and at a time when the average tenure of a FTSE CEO is less than four years, it could be argued there’s never been a bigger need for it. It’s an extraordinary relationship you have with clients, people who no matter how powerful or accomplished, can benefit. You can get enormous vicarious and professional pleasure from contributing to their success.
Born, bred and educated in Scotland, when I’m not advising I enjoy the theatre, reading, cooking and field sports.”
